The Hook

Welcome to the latest edition of The Weekend Menu, presented by St. Lawrence Grill Works.

The response from y’all has been so supportive, and we are very grateful. Thanks so much to everyone who has already reached out to let us know what you plan to order.

We’ve gotten some questions about the hook and the set, and this seems like a good time to address them. The hook is also known as a “pigtail flipper.” It’s an amazing tool for flipping solid cuts of meat like steaks, chicken, or pork chops. I love how it gives you great control as you move food around the grill. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but I will say that this is my most frequently used grill tool. The hook is included in the set, along with tongs and the spatula.

Here are a few things worth checking out this weekend:

  1. Making it in America — One thing I’m really excited about is that we have been able to find manufacturing partners here in the USA. This article was on my mind as we went about sourcing production, and I’m so glad that we were able to connect with Jimmy and Liam at Tennant Ventures. They have been a great help in this whole process.

  2. Pigtail flipper — Here’s a quick video of a pigtail flipper action. I think our hook is even better than this one.

  3. Chex Mix — My Aunt B makes Chex Mix every fall, and I have loved this snack since I was a little kid. I learned that it never hurts to add some extra butter to the recipe…unless of course you’re lactose intolerant.

  4. The Hook — As we were talking about grill tools recently the classic song by Blues Traveler came to mind. It’s certainly worth revisiting.

  5. “The hook brings you back, I ain’t telling you no lie.” —John Popper
