Welcome to the latest edition of the weekend menu, presented by St. Lawrence Grill Works.

It’s that time of year again, the kids are back to school, the weather is finally starting to cool down (for some), and we are trying to return to our routines.

1. The school of John Wooden — The more I learn about the Wizard of Westwood the more I respect him. Not only is his record on the basketball court unparalleled, but also the impact he had on the youngsters that came through his program made him quite possibly the best coach and teacher in history. I have a copy of his Pyramid of Success hanging in my office.

2. Guide to every type of grill — It’s time for a lesson on choosing the right tool for the job. If you’re thinking of getting a new grill, there are more options than ever. I fully endorse the Big Green Egg, as it is so versatile and holds up for years and years. If that’s not quite what you had in mind, this guide will help you choose.

3. Smoked cream cheese — If you find yourself in need of a dish to bring to a gathering this fall, let me introduce you to smoked cream cheese. It’s one of the easiest and most delicious things you can imagine. There are limitless ways to top it so let your creativity run wild.
